Mutual
Aid
While emergency services in other areas
are focused on borders and jurisdiction, Peterborough
area fire departments routinely help each other
in times of need. This includes sharing expertise
and equipment between area municipalities:

Peterborough County departments have called
upon other departments for large fires, transport
accidents, equipment loans, technical advice,
training ideas, and fire prevention events.

Although this "Mutual Aid" has become
entrenched in Ontario Fire legislation, the
Peterborough-area Fire Chiefs have long-established
this strategic alliance to help each other where
resources allow, deal with issues before they
become problems, and be proactive to local community
issues affecting the area?s fire services.

Disaster Relief
Who would you call at 3 am if you needed
help?? The Peterborough County Disaster Relief
Fund volunteers are called out anytime, in any
weather, to help families and distraught victims
of disasters who have immediate needs, such
as clothing, health supplies, accommodation
for the night.
